“You need a new system” should not be the whole explanation.
You may have been given a large repair quote, told that the equipment is too old, or presented with several replacement options you cannot easily compare.
A second opinion is a chance to examine the system and put those recommendations into context. It is not an argument with the first contractor or a promise to find a cheaper answer.

What we will look at.
KOLD reviews the symptoms, the earlier diagnosis and the condition of the equipment. We then explain the proposed repair, why replacement may be under consideration and which questions still need answers.
A useful second opinion may agree with the original recommendation. The value is understanding why.

Bring the information you already have.
A quote, an invoice, a model number or a description of previous repairs can help. None is required just to get in touch.
Explain what you were told and what concerns you. “I want to know whether another repair is sensible” is a perfectly good starting point.

The assessment comes before the answer.
An independent diagnostic visit takes time. Ask about the visit and any charges when scheduling. We do not advertise a free diagnosis or a guaranteed lower quote.
You can call or text first to describe the situation.

Repair when it makes sense. Replace when it should.
Keeping equipment running is valuable when the repair is a good decision. So is recognizing when another repair would not be a sensible investment.
Our approach is to explain the options clearly, not force every system into the same answer.

Let’s look at the recommendation.
Send the location, the issue and what has been recommended. KOLD will contact you to arrange the assessment.

Common questions
Can you review another company’s estimate?
Yes. Share the estimate when you have it. Reviewing a document can help frame the conversation, but diagnosing the equipment may still require a visit.
Will you promise to repair an older system?
No. We can promise to consider the repair rather than dismissing it because of age alone. The actual recommendation depends on the equipment and fault.
Do you beat other contractors’ prices?
A second opinion is about the diagnosis and recommended work, not a price-match offer. Comparing like-for-like recommendations is more useful than comparing totals alone.
